Inside AMSALE After Hours: Artistry Behind the Garment

We welcomed guests to our SoHo flagship for our ongoing AMSALE After Hours series—an evening dedicated to stories, insight, and community.

The conversation was led by Alix Strauss—culture and trend journalist, New York Times contributor, and author—who guided a thoughtful dialogue on craftsmanship, design, and creative process.

The panel featured the AMSALE design team—Creative Director Sarah Swann and Head Designer Michael Cho—who continue Amsale Aberra’s enduring vision, working in close collaboration with the atelier team whose handcrafted work has defined the brand for nearly 40 years.

Joining them was Cian McAuliffe, co-founder of Beggars Run—a London-based tailoring house known for its distinctive curation of rare fabrics sourced from English and Irish mills, and its relaxed yet deeply considered approach to craftsmanship.

Together, the panel offered perspectives and a deeper appreciation of modern craftsmanship, impeccable tailoring, and the shared design language between bridal and menswear.

We extend our thanks to the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) for their partnership, with support from the Luminaries young patron group. MAD’s mission—to collect, display, and interpret objects that document innovation in craft, art, and design—aligned seamlessly with the spirit of the evening.

We also thank Penhaligon’s, our SoHo neighbor, renowned for its heritage and distinctive scents, for its thoughtful contribution, which enhanced the experience.

We look forward to continuing the AMSALE After Hours series with future themes—each evening shaped by stories, insight, and community.
